Promoting blood donations to save patients
Thousands of people responded to the call from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) for blood donation as a result of a shortage for treatment. Earlier, 35 people registered to donate blood each day; however at present the numbers are nearing 400 per day at the institute.
The NIHBT welcomes a greater number of blood donors these days.
People aged 18-60 are instructed how to manage the blood donation process.
Sometimes, the NIHBT welcomes nearly 100 donors at the same time.
Monk Nguyen Van Tuan, 19 years old, comes to the NIHBT to donate blood.
Legal consultant Vu Ngoc Quynh Trang, 25 years old, donates blood. She owns rare blood type O.
Blood will be tested and treated to be safe for use.
NIHBT President, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, confirmed that the quality of blood selected and preserved at the NIHBT is as good as that in any leading institutes in the world.
