Opportunity to promote Vietnamese culture to international friends

Unlike last year's event, the Army Games 2021 ranked cultural and artistic performances for the first time as one of the official competition contents with the name "Army of Culture."

Colonel Dang My Hanh, head of the team competing in "Army of Culture" said that participating in the Army Games 2021, in addition to the goals of exchanging, improving the quality and skills of performing arts and culture, the team also has the additional task of promoting Vietnamese identity through performances. This is also an opportunity to help international friends understand more about the Vietnam People's Army.

“The task of the team is to convey the most quintessential features of Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity, along with the tasks of the Vietnam People's Army in the new era," said Dang My Hanh.

Hanh said that based on the assigned tasks, in the exhibition activities at the Army Games 2021, the team identified the theme as "Vietnamese People's Army in integration and development" to ensure that it meets all the criteria set by the organizers, in which the application of technology is emphasized in the development strategy and interaction with the audience.

In addition, to meet the requirements of the mission, all performances of the team at this year's Army Games 2021 used illustrations of Vietnam in innovation and development.

"Everything from the costumes to the choice of what instrument to use, or the performance and the way it is performed, are all very Vietnamese - Vietnam in integration and development," said Colonel Hanh.

From the selection of the work to the requirements for the costumes, the illustrations, and how to convey this work, the team had to translate it into Russian into a complete story for international friends to understand about Vietnamese beliefs.

Many special dishes from different regions of Vietnam will appear at Army Games 2021

The leader of the cooking team of the Vietnam People's Army's team participating in the Army Games 2021, Tran Dang Viet said that, learning from previous events, this year the team has prepared more carefully.

In particular, the dishes that the team intends to perform at the Army Games 2021 are imbued with the regional identity of Vietnam. From the highlands, there are dishes such as "grilled fish", "Lang Son roasted duck". The dish representing the Hanoi capital appearing at the Army Games 2021 is dried beef salad.

Team leader Tran Dang Viet said that this year, the "Field Kitchen" team will compete in Uzebekistan - a country with a large Muslim population, so instead of making dishes from pork, the team will use sheep meat and poultry dishes.

“This year, the team has carefully prepared, promoting the ability of each group, both the cake group and the cooking group can make more dishes to add points. Like the cooking group, we can make three more dishes for each menu. As for the cake group, it is also possible to make 20 to 25 more dishes in phase 2 of the contest content. Therefore, this year, the team is likely to get a lot of points during the competition," said Chef Tran Dang Viet, head of the kitchen team.
