Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations Help Distribute Supplies to Serve Covid fight

The results in the fight against the pandemic depend on the timely and enthusiastic support from organizations, businesses and individuals.

In the face of unprecedented demand for certain medical supplies in localities, the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations have coordinated with relevant authorities to promptly distribute medical equipment and supplies in support of pandemic prevention and control.

The Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations organized the donation of medical equipment and supplies for the prevention and control of Covid-19 to the Dong Nai Department of Health.

The Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations on Nov. 9 handed over the medical equipment and supplies for Covid-19 prevention and control worth more than VND 2.2 billion (USD 96,500) to the Provincial Department of Health.

The medical supplies include seven portable ventilators, five sets of multi-function hospital beds and personal cabinets, 2,000 N95 medical masks, 200 protective suits, 3,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits, which were relocated by Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations from Latter- Saint Charities day.

Dong Nai province reported the second-highest number of infections with 848 cases on Nov. 10, behind only Ho Chi Minh City ( 1,414 cases).

The Phu Tho province's Health Department coordinated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the local Union of Friendship Organizations on Nov. 8 presented 128,400 bottles of hand sanitizer organization by the Korean non-governmental Good Neighbors (GNI), GNI Canada, and Greeniche Natural Health (Canada) to help the province in the fight against Covid.

Phu Tho health facilities receive medical equipment, supplies.

In the past time, the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM, the specialized and functional body of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations VUFO) and Phu Tho Foreign Affairs Department have actively coordinated and mobilized foreign organizations and individuals to sponsor programs, projects and non-project aid to support the province's pandemic prevention and control.

With the support of the VUFO, the permission of the Phu Tho People's Committee, the Korean non-governmental organization GNI has lobbied GNI Canada and Greeniche Natural Health company to sponsor 128,400 bottles of hand sanitizer worth VND 13.8 billion (USD 605,300) for Phu Tho.

After three months of transportation by sea from July 28, the shipment officially arrived in Phu Tho province on Nov. 6.

Up to now, the provincial Health Department has received over 107,000 hand sanitizer bottles and promptly distributed it to the provincial general hospital, field hospitals, isolation facilities, medical facilities, in the province.

At the event, Du Van Quang, director of the Foreign Affairs Department, president of the Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations, sent his deep gratitude to the GNI for always accompanying and sharing difficulties with the people and Phu Tho health sector in the face of the complicated disease situation. At the same time, he requested that the Health Department quickly distribute the received items to the field hospitals of the province, using them for the right purposes as committed to the sponsor.

For his part, Nguyen Huy Ngoc, director of Phu Tho Health Department, thanked GNI for accompanying and sponsoring, hand sanitizer supplies are very important for the health sector in the context of the current complicated pandemic situation. The department is committed to using the assistance effectively and properly, and bringing it to the right persons as soon as possible.

Thailand helps Vietnam with medical supplies in Covid-19 combat

Meanwhile, more support was sent to help Vietnam fight Covid-19 from Thailand, the US and Australia.

The Government of Thailand has presented medical supplies worth THB 2.5 million (USD 75,000) to help Vietnam in the fight against Covid-19 in a ceremony at the headquarters of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok on Nov. 9.

Medical supplies donated to Vietnam include four infusion machines, 10,000 N95 masks, 10 emergency resuscitation beds, 10 oxygen systems, and two mobile X-Ray machines.

Apart from the donations, Thai firms in Vietnam have also joined hands with the Vietnamese Government in the pandemic fight, raising millions of US dollars investing in support of the country's Covid-19 vaccine fund, and presenting medical equipment and necessities to Vietnamese localities. Notably, the Thai Government has facilitated the export of the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in Thailand to Vietnam.

On the same day, Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital on Nov. 9 received an Illumina sequencing machine. DNA sequencing machines decipher the genetic code of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, and help doctors track outbreaks.

The first machine had been handed over to the Cho Ray hospital in HCM City on Oct. 19.

In addition, the US in partnership with COVAX, is providing 2,873,520 additional life-saving doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to Vietnam. 1,316,250 doses arrived on Nov. 6 in Hanoi, and 1,557,270 doses arrived in two shipments on Nov. 7-8 in HCM City. This is the seventh delivery to Vietnam, totaling more than 15 million Covid vaccine doses made available by the US.

The Australia-UNICEF partnership on vaccine delivery assistance in Vietnam has delivered 1,910 vaccine refrigerators, 5,000,000 syringes and 50,000 safety boxes to Vietnam.

With Australian assistance, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has delivered 1,910 refrigerators, 5 million syringes, and 50,000 safety boxes to Vietnam within the framework of a vaccination support project in Vietnam funds by the Australian Government and UNICEF.

This equipment will be delivered to remote and Vietnamese communities in 35 provinces, bolstering's vaccination program and further strengthening the country's fight against Covid-19
