On July 5, the vessel QNg 98191TS was operating about 21 nautical miles east of Gianh sea gate when a crew member named Le Phuong, born in 1976, residing in Pho Thach commune, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province, experienced symptoms of pain and difficulty breathing.

Cang Gianh Border Guard Station under Quang Binh Province Border Guard, said that the unit had just coordinated with Squadron 2 to receive and support the timely emergency transfer of a fisherman who was sick while practicing at sea.

At 10:30 a.m. on the same day, Cang Gianh Border Guard Station received news from Nguyen Minh Tay, residing in Pho Thach commune, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province, captain of the vessel QNg 98191TS that a crew member experiencing persistent shortness of breath and chest pain.

Captain Nguyen Minh Tay and the crew were on their way to shore and asked the unit for help and support.

Immediately upon receiving the information, the Cang Gianh Border Guard Station directed the control station to continue to keep in contact with the vessel, and at the same time dispatched military doctors to assist in advising on initial processing information via communication devices.

The unit also informed that Squadron 2 sent forces to coordinate and support when the QNg 98191TS fishing vessel docked at the port.

At 1:10 p.m. on July 5, crew member Le Phuong was brought ashore. Military medical staff and soldiers at Cang Gianh Border Gate Border Guard Station and Squadron 2 received and examined sick fishermen.

According to military medical staff, through initial examination, the patient was suspected of having a stroke, with symptoms of distorted mouth and paralysis of limbs.

Border guards promptly transferred the sick crew member to Dong Hoi Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital for treatment.
