The cultural space of Tet ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province with the theme “Beauty of countryside – Vietnamese soul in Tet culture of ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province” creates a space for people and tourists to experience the traditional Tet atmosphere of Vietnam.

Tourists can immerse themselves in a joyful, bustling, colorful atmosphere with a variety of activities such as the rural market space, which introduces and sells traditional products on Tet holiday, folk games including throwing con, smashing clay pots, and experience wrapping Banh Chung, Banh Day and portrait sketching.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Ninh Province, said, “The Cultural Space of Tet of Ethnic Groups of Quang Ninh Province aims to create a joyful, exciting, confident and proud atmosphere among all classes of people about the province's outstanding achievements in implementing tasks and targets for economic, social and national security development in 2024.”

At the same time, the event aims to strengthen national pride, honor and promote national historical and cultural traditions, improve cultural life, and contribute to preserving and promoting good customs and practices, and traditional cultural values.

Giap Thi Hai (Dao ethnic group, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province) shared that before Tet, Dao people often sew for themselves and their families the most beautiful clothes to wear on Tet to go out for spring. At the same time, they clean the house together, prepare Dao words to stick on the door, and altar, decorate the house to ward off bad luck of the old year, and welcome the good things, and luck of the new year. This is an occasion for relatives to gather together and relax after a long hard working year. During the Tet holiday, there are 3 indispensable dishes on the dinner tray: pork, chicken, and sticky rice cake.

Truong Dinh Hoe, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City happily expressed that this is the first time he has come to Quang Ninh to celebrate Tet, and it is also the occasion of this meaningful program. Through that, he understands the culture of the land, the people of Quang Ninh province, and the ancient Tet culture of the ethnic groups.

The re-enactment of the old Tet space helps visitors have the opportunity to experience and reminisce about the Tet days imbued with national identity. It also raises pride and a sense of responsibility in everyone’s heart, especially the young generation.
