Queen Margrethe II Delighted with Vietnam-Demark Relations

Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi presented the letter of credence from President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Queen Margrethe II at Fredensborg Palace on May 6, VOV said.
Both sides believe that mutual ties have recorded numerous achievements in all traditional fields, ranging from politics – diplomacy to economy - trade - investment, people-to-people exchanges, agricultural co-operation, education, and labour.
The cooperation also covers new areas such as climate change response, renewable energy, green growth, and sustainable development.
Given the various achievements obtained over the past half century, Queen Margrethe II noted her hope that the relationship between the two countries will continue to reach new heights on a comprehensive and substantive fashion in line with the interests between both sides.
Ambassador Nghi expressed his honour to be appointed as the Ambassador of Vietnam to Denmark in the context of the bilateral relations recording many significant achievements.
The two sides have established a strategic partnership in the fields of climate change, energy, the environment and green growth in 2011, as well as a comprehensive partnership in 2013.
The stable and sustainable development in the relationship demonstrates mutual trust and closeness in terms of benefits despite being far away in geographical distance, he said.

The diplomat emphasised that the special affection that Queen Margrethe II and her Danish Royal family have for the country is a valuable asset and can serve as the basis for fostering a close-knit relationship between the two countries.
The Vietnamese Ambassador went on to affirm that he will do his utmost and look forward to receiving support from the Queen, the Royal Family, the Government, and the people of Denmark in deepening the relationship between the two sides in the near future based on the foundations nurtured by their leaders.
Nghi also suggested that the Danish Government further create conditions for the community of more than 16,000 Vietnamese people in the European country to integrate deeply in the host society and make practical contributions to the friendly relations.
He conveyed regards and congratulations from President Phuc to the Queen, Royal Family, Government and people of Denmark on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Queen Margrethe II's accession to the Danish throne.
In reply, the Queen thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their good sentiment and attention, expressing her wish that the diplomat has a successful working term with positive contributions to the bilateral relationship.
Earlier, Nghi with State Secretary for Trade and Global Sustainability of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Steen Hommel and Director of the ministry’s Department for Asia Thomas Lehmann, VietnamPlus reported.

During the meeting, both sides discussed measures to further deepen the comprehensive partnership, including promoting the exchange of high-level delegations and effectively implementing the Vietnam-Denmark Joint Action Plan for 2021-2022.
They also pledged to continue support for each other at international and regional multilateral forums and organisations, as well as exchanging and sharing views on international issues of mutual concern, for peace, cooperation and the interests of the two countries.
The ambassador also had a working session with leaders of Asia House, a Danish organisation that connects Denmark and Asia.
The two sides spent time to consider specific measures and plans for their joint work in the time ahead, including promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels, holding trade and investment promotion events, and providing information and connecting enterprises of the two countries.
They also agreed to work together to seek ideas and initiatives on new cooperative opportunities./.
Last year, despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, two-way trade reached US$842.37 million, up 18 % year-on-year. In the year, Denmark had 145 enterprises investing in Vietnam with total capital of US$466.17 million, ranking 32nd among the countries and territories investing in the country. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, with two newly-licensed projects, including Lego’s over-one-billion-USD project, Denmark has risen to the 22nd place in total and became the third largest investor in Vietnam in 2022. |
