Recognize Algerian Ambassador of to Vietnam's Contributions in Boosting People-to-people Relations

During his nearly 3-year term in Vietnam, Abdelhamid Boubazine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Vietnam coordinated with Vietnamese agencies and partners to organize activities to enhance understanding and cooperation between the two peoples. Recognizing his efforts, on April 22, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded the "for Peace and Friendship among Nations" medal to the Ambassador.

According to the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ambassador Abdelhamid Boubazine supports the organization of cultural and artistic activities to enhance understanding between the two peoples, such as organizing the painting competitions for students of Vietnam - Algeria Friendship Secondary School on the 60 anniversary of Vietnam - Algeria diplomatic relations (October 28, 1962 - October 28, 2022); promoting and supporting the Vietnam Nation Drama Theater to stage and perform the "The Man in Rubber Sandals" play, a famous work about President Ho Chi Minh by Algerian playwright Kateb Yacine; supporting the Ministry of National Defense film crew to go to Algeria to produce the "Dien Bien Phu seen from Africa" documentary to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024); coordinating to expand the land, restoring and embellishing the memorial stele for Algerian and Vietnamese journalists and technicians who died while accompanying the late President Houari Boumedienne on an official visit to Vietnam in 1974 (Soc Son district, Hanoi).

In addition, Ambassador Abdelhamid Boubazine promoted signings and cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Algerian Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations; between Batna and Dien Bien; between Critical Diseases Research and Treatment Institute (Radiner) of Vietnam and Saidal Group, Algeria's largest pharmaceutical corporation. The Ambassador closely coordinates with Vietnamese agencies and partners; enthusiastically responds to the activities of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations; and regularly meets and interacts with groups of former medical, educational, and construction experts - branches of the Vietnam - Algeria Friendship Association.

In recognition of the contributions of Ambassador of Algeria to Vietnam Abdelhamid Boubazine to people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Algeria, on April 22, in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded the Medal "for Peace and Friendship among Nations" to the Ambassador. This is the highest award of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to recognize the significant contributions of individuals to peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the people of Vietnam and the people of other countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, acknowledged and thanked Ambassador Abdelhamid Boubazine for his contributions to Vietnam - Algeria people-to-people exchange. The President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations hopes that Ambassador Abdelhamid Boubazine will maintain affection for Vietnam and contribute to promoting relations between the two peoples.

According to Ambassador Abdelhamid Boubazine, Vietnam and Algeria have many similarities in history. The Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 was a source of encouragement for the national liberation struggle in Algeria launched in the same year. The Algerian people admired Vietnam's past struggle for independence and present-day economic development.

"Even though my term ends, I will always keep the image of Vietnam in my heart and continue to contribute to the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Algeria," he said.
