Vietnam Agricultural Products Introduced To Algeria
The Vietnam Trade Office in Algeria on December 22 coordinated with the Carrefour supermarket system in Algeria to organize an activity to introduce and promote Vietnam Agricultural Products at the Carrefour Hypermarket in the City Center Mall in the capital of Algiers.
At the event, two of Vietnam’s key products - coffee and catfish (tra and basa fish) fillets - were introduced to Algerian consumers. They had a chance to learn about information on Vietnamese products, how to cook them and try them.
Speaking to consumers, supermarket representatives, and local importers, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Algeria Hoang Duc Nhuan said that Vietnam's aquaculture output in 2023 is expected to reach more than 9.26 million tonnes and a total export turnover is estimated at 9.2 billion USD. Vietnam’s main export items include shrimp with an export turnover of 3.45 billion USD, catfish (1.9 billion USD), mollusks (0.8 billion USD), and tuna (0.9 billion USD).

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam's tra fish has been exported to more than 140 countries and territories around the world, conquering both traditional and demanding markets like the US, the EU, and Japan.
Regarding coffee export, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam shipped abroad 1.36 million tonnes worth 3.5 billion USD. The figure is expected to be higher as the country is entering the 2023-2024 harvest season. Currently, Vietnamese coffee is present in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Algeria is considered a large market for coffee consumption as it imports 130,000 tonnes of coffee beans a year.
The 2023 Proud of Vietnamese Agricultural Products will be held in late December in Hanoi, aiming to popularise national products and affirm their quality to a wide community.
The event is jointly held by the Hanoi Promotion Agency on Investment, Trade and Tourism (HPA) and Long Biên District People's Committee at the Long Bien Park on December 28-31.
According to organizers, the program aimed to implement and concretize cooperation projects of Hanoi and cities and provinces nationwide in the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, the whole country for Hanoi"; Hanoi’s plan on economic development of agricultural and rural tourism associated with building new rural areas in the city in the 2022-25 period; and a practical celebration to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Long Bien District.
It is a place to connect and support businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP enterprises providing products related to agriculture.
At the same time, the program will help enterprises popularise and find output partners and expand the distribution system for their products, accessing and updating information about the market, services, and policies related to agricultural and rural development of the local and international localities. It will also stimulate demands of using and developing agricultural production at the end of the year and welcome the Year of the Dragon, pushing the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
More than 120 booths will be available at the event. There will be an area for typical agricultural and rural products of cities and provinces; a space for the demonstration and introduction of processed products, green and high-tech agricultural products, OCOP products, and traditional craft villages of Hanoi and other localities; and a place for Long Bien District's specialties.

Products with export potential and beautiful packaging designs will be picked to take part in the event. Booths will be beautifully and neatly decorated and all products displayed and sold must have selling prices, labels, packaging, and clear traceability.
In addition to the exhibition and fair, there will be other sideline activities during the four days such as check-in promotional programs, on-site product processing, and product trials along with cultural exchanges and art performances.
