At a working session with his Vietnamese counterpart Doan Van Viet in Hanoi on April 18, Chun pointed out that people’s hospitality, IT development, and infrastructure and incentives adopted by the Government have driven the cultural industry of the RoK.

The RoK stands ready to share its experience and help Vietnam in promoting the cultural industry, he affirmed, adding that the two Governments have devised many policies aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation and friendship, especially in culture, sports and tourism.

The two ministries’ enhancement of their mutual support would help cultivate the Vietnam-RoK friendship, he continued.

In his remarks, Viet expressed his hope that the RoK will send experts to assist Vietnam in materializing its strategy for developing cultural industry, smart tourism and digital tourism.

He also suggested symposiums, training courses for tourism officials and businesses, and projects that offer technical assistance to ASEAN member countries.

The official called on the RoK to dispatch more coaches and experts in such sports as football, martial arts, and shooting to the Southeast Asian nation, saying the cooperation should be expanded to relevant spheres like health care, sports nutrition and personnel training.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is working on the establishment of a Vietnamese cultural center in the RoK in order to promote culture, sport, and tourism links between the two countries, Viet told his guest.

On April 18, a public library renewal project funded by the RoK had its completion marked at a ceremony at the Hanoi Library.

The project, funded by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aims to improve the conveniences of the Hanoi Library and create a space for cultural enjoyment and book reading, thus helping improve city dwellers’ spiritual life.

Starting in November 2022, it focused on re-designing and decorating the library.

Addressing the ceremony, Chun noted his ministry began projects on renewing small libraries in other countries in 2007. The Korean Government has expanded the scope of assistance for foreign public libraries since 2020, and Vietnam was the first to benefit from this.

He said he hopes that the Hanoi Library will play an important role as a leading centre of knowledge, information, and culture in Vietnam./.
