RoK's National Assembly Includes Vietnam Village Project in 2024 Budget
The locality has implemented this Vietnamese village for over the past 3 years include. The project includes the establishment of a Korean - Vietnamese culture and history experience and development center as well as the content and the expansion and road building to the Baekdudaegan incubator. The first amount from the budget is about 200 million KRW.

The authorities of North Kyungsang province and Bonghwa commune are coordinating closely with the central government to adjust project terms and find additional funding sources to meet the budget.
The Vietnamese village development project in Bonghwa was initially a local-scale project but later expanded to a national scale thanks to efforts made by the Kyungsang provincial government and Bonghwa commune. The project's inclusion in the 2024 budget will pave the way for its transformation into a national project.
Previously in August 2022, Vietnamese Ambassador to RoK Nguyen Vu Tung and Bonghwa Chairman Park Hyun-guk discussed cooperation plans to build a Vietnamese village in Bonghwa to promote Vietnamese culture among Korean people and further enhance bilateral exchanges. The Bonghwa Chairman stressed that the project's highlight will be the Chunghyodang area (Zhong Hieu Duong) - a relic of the descendants of the Vietnamese Ly Dynasty in Bonghwa. The project will transform this area into a tourist destination. Also, the district government will build a traditional village, and facilities for accommodation, training, and artistic performance on a 38,350m² land plot in Bonghwa.
The project is expected to attract 100,000 tourists each year, generating a revenue of 3.7 billion KRW and creating 482 direct and indirect jobs.
According to KBS, in the 12th century, after the fall of the Ly dynasty, Prince Ly Long Tuong, the seventh son of King Ly Anh Tong, crossed the sea to the Korean peninsula to seek refuge. When in the Korean peninsula, the Prince and his family were treated very well by King Kojong. When the Mongols invaded, in spite of being at the age of 70, Prince Ly Long Tuong still led soldiers and the people in Annam citadel against the invaders during the five months. With the defeat of the Mongol's army, he was appointed to be a General and made credit for the merit of the state.
