Russian Embassy Awarded Medal to Le Ngoc Dinh

The Russian Embassy awarded Le Ngoc Dinh with medals and certificates of merit to recognize his contributions to developing the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The ceremony of awarding medals and certificates of merit by the Russian Federation Cooperation Agency (Rossotrudnichestvo) and the Russian Embassy in recognition of the contributions of Le Ngoc Dinh, former Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) took place in the afternoon of February 15, in Hanoi. He has made great contributions to the development of cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Russia.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko said that while working at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Le Ngoc Dinh worked closely with colleagues from the Soviet Union. Russia always recognizes his contributions as a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association for the 2011-2016 term and a member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association from 2016 to the present.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed, with the background of knowledge gained during the years of studying in Russia. After more than 30 years working at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, he has devoted himself to the cause of foreign culture, and achieved many important achievements, especially in cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Honored to receive the medal and certificate of merit from Russia, Le Ngoc Dinh expressed his joy with the press.

“I had great luck 43 years ago, I was sent to the Soviet Union to study. The knowledge that I have acquired during my years of study at the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) has helped me to effectively carry out the external tasks under my responsibility.”

During more than 30 years of work, Le Ngoc Dinh has had many attachments to the former Soviet Union and the present-day Russian Federation. Especially since 2007 until now, he has joined his colleagues in Vietnam and the Russian Federation in drafting cooperation plans, directly participating in organizing many major cultural exchange programs, events, and forums on tourism cooperation between the two countries in both Russia and Vietnam.

Prominent among those events is the Exhibition of Cultural Artifacts with the theme "Vietnamese Ancient Cultures" which took place at the National Hermitage Museum (St.Petersburg) from May to September 2019. The exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Russia, is one of the major activities taking place within the framework of the Vietnam Year in Russia and the Russian Year in Vietnam 2019-2020 on the 25th anniversary of the year. The date of signing the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendship Relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1994-2019) and towards the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1950-2020).

The exhibition displays about 300 artifacts, antiquities, and national treasures most typical of the famous cultural centers of Vietnam in the pre-AD period, which are: Dong Son in the North, Sa Huynh, Dong Nai, and Oc Eo.

“It is an honor and pleasure to see nearly 300 ancient cultural artifacts of Vietnam displayed for the first time along with the top artistic masterpieces of Russia and the world. This is an opportunity for the Russian public and international friends to better understand Vietnam's rich and diverse cultural heritage, contributing to further tightening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia," said Le Ngoc Dinh.
