Saigon Choir Scores at the 7th Vietnam International Choir Competition
The Saigon Choir has just achieved many outstanding achievements at the 7th Vietnam International Choir Competition in Hoi An City (Quang Nam).
Saigon Choir stands highly rated
At this year's competition, Saigon Choir achieved excellent results with the gold award for the Saigon Male Choir team, the gold award for the Saigon Female Choir team (first place in the category), the gold award for the Saigon Choir team, and a special prize for the choir with the most outstanding performance.

The Vietnam International Choir Competition 2023 was reorganized after a 3-year interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the German Interkultur Association chose Hoi An city of Quang Nam province as the hosting venue.
The 7th Vietnam International Choir Competition took place in the first week of April. The contest brought together nearly 600 conductors, artists and musicians from 7 countries including India, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese team competed with 15 works in many categories, such as Ubi Caritas by Ola Gjeilo, Dem nam mo pho by Viet Anh, Salve Regina by Josu Elberdin, O sapientia by Tadeja Vulc, Forest music (Nhac rung) by Hoang Viet, Ru con by Tran Manh Hung, Pal so seong by Hyo won Woo…
Saigon Choir set new records
According to artist Huynh Quang Thai, manager and conductor of Saigon Choir, the selected entries are based on the criteria of difficulty, and ability to attract and evoke emotions.
Saigon Choir were highly rated by the judges and praised for their qualifications, expertise, and choice of performances. Through the competitions, Saigon Female Choir and Saigon Choir were selected to continue to compete for the Grand Prize.
In the end, Saigon Choir won three gold prizes, including the gold prize for Saigon Male Choir, Saigon Female Choir, and Saigon Choir.
In addition, Saigon Choir also received a special award for the choir with the most outstanding performance.

Saigon Choir was established in June 2016 by teachers and students of the vocal department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory. This is also the first adult choir in Vietnam.
Saigon Choir has won two prestigious international awards, including the Gold Award of the International Choir Competition in Hoi An in 2017 and the Certificate of Excellence (equivalent to a gold award) in the Video Clip A cappella competition at the World Choir Games 2021.
