Statistics released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on labour and employment in a report on socio-economic development showed that 265,000 labourers got new jobs in the first quarter of this year, representing a year on year increase of 3.6%.

The report indicated that labourers from 15 years old accounted for 52.5 million, with 21.3 million working in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors, 13.4 million in the industrial and construction sectors, and 17.7 million in the service sector.

The report by the GSO also pointed out that the unemployment rate in the first quarter was estimated at 2.22%, of which the rate was accounted for 3.17% in urban areas and 1.75% in rural areas./.
