South Korea, Da Nang Expand Co-operation in ICT Training

A training program in Korea for three days was started on October 29 for 20 students and 5 faculty members from the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang.
This initiative is part of the "Future Talent Development Program in Finance and ICT in Vietnam," which Hanwha Life, a South Korean life insurance company, has launched in collaboration with Childfund Korea this year. As part of it, they have newly established Fintech Hub and Fintech major at VKU in September and are supporting outstanding talents.

On the first day, participants visited Hanwha Life's headquarters in the 63 Building, followed by an insightful experience at DREAMPLUS Gangnam a co-working space for startups operated by Hanwha Life where they met with various FinTech experts. During the visit, they learned about Hanwha Life's digital finance and AI service cases, as well as examples of FinTech innovation from Korean companies.
Huynh Thi Tu Duyen, a freshman at VKU, shared, "This experience provided me with valuable insights into the future of the financial industry as it evolves with technology. It was meaningful and enjoyable to picture what innovations could happen in Vietnam, where digital transformation is progressing rapidly."
"Visiting Yeouido, Seoul's financial hub, and Gangnam, renowned for its vibrant commercial activity, provided us with valuable insights into the current landscape of Korea's FinTech industry. I hope to see how our students' ICT skills will integrate with the growth of Vietnam's financial sector, fostering unique FinTech innovations in Vietnam," said Le Phuoc Cuu Long, Department Chair of the Fintech Program at VKU.

On October 30, the participants took part in an idea competition at Lifepark, Hanwha Life's training institute in Yongin, where they presented creative ideas for the convergence of finance and technology. The following day, they attended an academic exchange event with the Department of Management of Technology at Korea University, where they strengthened their network and shared knowledge with academic experts.
According to VNA, the VKU was formed on January 3, 2020, by a merger between the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication’s Korea - Vietnam Friendship Information Technology College, the College of Information Technology, and other members of the University of Da Nang.

South Korea remains the largest foreign investor and a key partner in Da Nang city’s digital transformation and innovation plan 2025-2030 as well as across the central coastal region, particularly in terms of information and communication technology (ICT).
South Korea had been listed as a top five-investor in Da Nang, with 279 projects worth USD 382 million.
