Ambassador of Spain to Vietnam Pilar Méndez Jiménez joined Chairman of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Javier Mendez Repiso to host the launching ceremony of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam on May 12 in Hanoi.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador of Spain to Vietnam Pilar Méndez Jiménez stressed that the Vietnamese and Spanish business partnership demonstrated the positive alignment of the private and public sectors and the two side's commitment to supporting each other's social-economic development.

"Living in global economic uncertainty now more than ever, we [Vietnam and Spain] need to strengthen the network of business people. Eupore and Asia regions both play very relevant roles in the world’s stability. So business associations like the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EUROCHAM) will enhance not only trade but peace and stability around the world," said Ambassador Pilar Méndez Jiménez.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, Javier Mendez Repiso reaffirmed the significance of the launching event.

"Vietnam is an important business partner to Spain and the European region. The constitution of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam today marks an important milestone in the history of the bilateral economic-business relationship between the two countries, thanks to the support of partners such as the Department of Industry and Trade of HCMC, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Embassy of Spain in Hanoi, the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Ho Chi Minh City," said Chairman Javier Mendez Repiso.

He added that there are many values that the Spanish business community can bring to Vietnamese partners in terms of technology, research and development innovation, IT, manufacturing, and hospitality. In particular, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce will strive to promote and strengthen the relationship between local business partners and its 50 members. It will also arrange and facilitate companies to increase awareness of how to do business in Vietnam and how to enter the local market.

According to Chairman Javier Mendez Repiso, the official and legal recognition of the Chamber's operation since 2022 and the launching today in Hanoi proves how Vietnam and Spain share many similar values in building people-to-people relations in the long term. The Spanish Chairman emphasized the process to create mutual trust and raise awareness among Spanish companies on how to build relationships and do business in Vietnam.

"The importance of the launch today first is to improve the visibility of Spain in Vietnam, also to improve the visibility of Vietnam in Spain, attracting more tourists, entrepreneurs, and investors from Spain to Vietnam," said Javier.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam is an independent association of Spanish companies and professionals or related to Spain, constituted in Vietnam since 2022. Previously, the Chamber started in 2018 as part of EUROCHAM. Its most recent activity included co-hosting the first networking event of 2023 on April 18th in HCMC, with over 80 participants from the Spanish community and Vietnamese businesses.
