During the meeting, the two sides discussed initiatives to enhance connections between Da Nang and the Philippines, aiming to foster cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

DAFO Vice President Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen provided an overview of Da Nang City, its future development orientations, and the activities of DAFO in strengthening mutual understanding and promoting cooperative relations between the people of Da Nang and international friends.
Professor Roland G. Simbulan highly appreciated Vietnam’s foreign policy, particularly its efforts in overcoming the consequences of war, maintaining peace, and advancing national development. He expressed his desire to contribute to fostering the Philippines-Vietnam friendship, especially through connection initiatives in Da Nang.
The two sides discussed potential avenues for cooperation in people-to-people diplomacy to strengthen Vietnam-Philippines relations in Da Nang. Several proposed initiatives include collaboration with universities in Da Nang to facilitate cultural, historical, and linguistic exchanges for Filipino students, and opportunities for internships and student exchanges. Additionally, they explored the possibility of introducing skilled Filipino volunteers to engage in social work in Da Nang.
Another proposal focused on connecting Philippine civil society organizations with similar interests to expand partnerships with the DAFO, coordinating cultural and friendship exchange activities, organizing international seminars, and fostering collaboration in other fields.
Professor Roland G. Simbulan is a distinguished scholar in the Philippines, holding the rank of Professor 12 in Development Studies and Public Management at the University of the Philippines (Manila). As an accomplished author, Professor Simbulan has extensively researched and published works on US-Philippines security relations, US military bases in the Philippines, and Philippine foreign policy. Beyond academia, he is actively involved in various non-governmental and research organizations and currently serves as the Chairman of CenPeg. |
