Strengthening Cooperation in Human Resource Training for Laos' Northern Provinces

Under the leadership of the two Parties and States, the solidarity, friendship and special cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Son La province and Northern Laos provinces particularly have been continuously consolidated and strengthened.

Along with important achievements in various fields, Son La province has been focusing on cooperation in education and training. Human resource training for the Northern provinces of Laos has been effectively carried out.

Son La is located in the northwest of Vietnam, bordering Laos. The province has natural and social conditions similar to those of Northern Laos.

Son La province has strengthened its friendship and comprehensive cooperation, especially in human resource training activities with nine Northern provinces of Laos.

Implementing the policy of the two countries

The special relationship between Son La province and the Northern provinces of Laos, especially in human resource training, has been continuously expanded and developed.

Son La province advocates creating favorable conditions for districts in the province to organize twinning and cooperation with neighboring districts in the Northern provinces of Laos. Cooperation in human resource training according to the policy of the two countries has received attention.

Nguyen Huy Hoang, director of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province said: Son La province has many solutions, programs, and plans in carrying out the Party and State's policy on cooperation in human resource training for Laos.

Up to now, Son La province has trained thousands of officials, and students in the Northern provinces of Laos through educational institutions in the province. Son La also issued a policy to support Lao students while studying at universities and colleges in the area.

From 2015 to now, there have been nearly 3,000 Lao students studying in Son La province. There are nearly 2,200 Lao students who have completed the training program to work abroad.

In addition, there are more than 600 officials from the Northern provinces of Laos trained in Vietnamese. They returned to Laos to work.

The fruits of friendship

To improve the quality of training, and foster the cultural traditions, special solidarity, and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, the training institutions of Son La province regularly organize activities.

These are cultural, artistic, sports activities, experiencing historical sites, scenic spots in Son La province and other provinces of Vietnam.

Son La College, having many years of experience in training Vietnamese for students in the Northern provinces of Laos, currently has 200 Laotian students studying Vietnamese and majors at the school.

To ensure training quality, the college constantly improves and builds training programs according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training. The college ensures that students are qualified to participate in specialized training programs at the school and universities in the area.

Sharing about the study in Son La, a Laotian student, studying Information Technology at Son La College said: “When I first came here to study, I and my friends faced many difficulties because of language differences. After two years of studying, with the attention and help of Vietnamese teachers and friends, I am now fluent in Vietnamese."

As a school with more than 400 Laotian students, Tay Bac University has always determined that the training of Laotian students is an important task. The school always creates favorable conditions for them to study.

Tay Bac University has reserved a separate dormitory for Laotian students. The school completely waives the cost of accommodation in the school for them. Students are also entitled to scholarships if they achieve good academic and training results.

These results have been and continue to affirm the training quality of universities and colleges in Son La province, contributing to tightening the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries Vietnam-Laos.

They also strengthen the friendly cooperation between Son La province and Northern Laos provinces.
