Sweden’s Gustaf Sjokvist Chamber Choir will perform in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Sweden ties.

Swedish chamber choir to perform in HCMC to mark 50 anniversary of bilateral relations

The concert, hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO), will also feature other Vietnamese artists.

"God in Disguise", the concert, will feature a performance of Forkladd Gud (A God Disguised) suite by Swedish composer Lars-Erik Larsson, a work inspired by Hjalmar Gullberg's 1933 poetry collection "Love in the 20th century".

The choir will also perform compositions by Schumann, Bach, Karin Rehnqvist, Jan Sandström, and Monica Dominique.

The concert will begin with several Swedish contemporary music pieces and close with Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

HBSO will perform excerpts from Vietnamese folk suite Dong Chay (The Flow) composed by Tran Manh Hung.

The concert will be conducted by Sweden’s Florian Benfer and Vietnam’s Tran Nhat Minh.

The Gustaf Sjokvist Chamber Choir, founded in 1994, performs contemporary music, classical music by composers like Mozart, Bach and Brahms, folk, and jazz.
