Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has recently delivered its first batch of products made in Vietnam, in an apparent bid to boost delivery efficiency in Southeast Asian markets and reduce logistics costs.

Nikkei Asian Review has learned that Panasonic, the Japanese multinational electronics, is planning its appliance factory basing near Bangkok Thailand to a larger one in Vietnam for better efficiency. 

With the novel coronavirus pandemic and trade tensions driving the shift of production lines from China to Southeast Asia, Vietnam, in particular, seems to have emerged as an attractive destination for investors and manufacturers alike.
