UNESCO passed a resolution to include the progenitor of Vietnamese traditional medicine Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac in the list of eminent personalities and historical events commemorated in 2023 - 2024.

The Vietnamese representative emphasized the important point of promoting innovation in traditional medicine, some proposals for strategic solutions and necessary actions in the coming time and shared the policy to encourage the development of traditional medicine in Vietnam

Traditional medicine is an intersection between science, indigenous culture, and customs of the Vietnamese people. Strengthening international exchanges in this field brings not only academic, economic and technical values but also enhances the understanding of the international friends about the Vietnamese people. This is also the goal of Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy in the near future.

People in Vietnam, China, and other countries have used traditional medicine for over 4,000 years.
