Vietnam has well performed the honor missions of serving as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in the first year of the 2020-2021 tenure, contributing to maintaining regional and global peace and stability as well as improving the country’s prestige in the international arena, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung has said.

In the framework of the "International Conference on Women, Peace and Security: Strengthening women's role in building and sustaining peace - From commitments to results" from December 7 to 9 taking place the whole session "Women's future in peacekeeping operations". The session was chaired by President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga, former Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations.

During the month under the presidency of Vietnam, the UN Security Council (UNSC) held 30 official activities, an international press conference and many press briefings on the council’s work. The council adopted 13 decisions, the largest number of decisions made by the UNSC during one month over many recent years.
