Positive growth in transporting through Vietnam ports

Despite the Covid-19, the volume of goods passing through our ports in the first 7 months of 2020 is still on the growth. Specifically, the aggregated volume of goods transporting via our seaports reached 379.5 million tons. In which, the number of containers passing recorded at 11.8 Teus, grew 6% and 8% respectively compared to the same period for 2019. (VNF)

Economic growth in the Asean region is estimated to rebound to an average 8 per cent in 2021 on the back of recovery in Chinese import demand and global trade. Viet Nam will emerge the least affected with its lead in unwinding measures as compared to other nations in ASEAN, although it is not immune to the sharp slowdown in trade flows.

Economic ministers from ASEAN member nations convened an online meeting on June 4 to implement instructions from ASEAN leaders made at the Special ASEAN Summit on COVID-19 on April 14 and have adopted the Ha Noi Action Plan to beef up economic linkages and supply chains within the bloc amidst the complicated Covid-19 pandemic.

According to experts, although the new goals were decreased, it is not easy to achieve them.

Some economists have shared their opinions about Vietnam’s economic growth prospects with Germany's DW, a newspaper and TV channel as Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called for greater efforts to restart the national economy aiming to achieve a GDP growth rate of over 5% during a conference featuring both domestic and foreign attendants.
