The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and Canelones province of Uruguay implemented a cooperation agreement to contribute to the development of the ties between Uruguay and Vietnam.

"Though the years with the ups and downs of history, the solidarity, friendship and mutual support of the peoples of the two countries have been constantly cultivated, serving as a strong glue linking the two peoples, becoming a solid foundation for today's Vietnam-Uruguay relations," said Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc at the celebration of the 198th National Day of Uruguay taking place on the evening of August 23 in Hanoi.

The Latin American region has for years been a potential market for Vietnam.

2023 is an important year in the history of Vietnam-Uruguay relations, marking the 30th year in which the two countries have accompanied each other in development since 1993

President of the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga and Ambassador of Uruguay Raul Pollak Giampietro look forward to collaborate to promote people-to-people exchanges.
