Thousands of Drones to Light up Hanoi on Lunar New Year’s Eve

A drone light show expected to set a Southeast Asian record is scheduled to take place by the side of Ho Tay (West Lake) in Hanoi on the eve of the Year of the Dragon on February 9.

The show, with the participation of 2,024 drones, will be organized by the People’s Committee of Tay Ho district, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), and the Vietnam Public Bank (PVcomBank) in celebration of the New Year, the district Party Committee said, as cited by VietnamPlus.

It will officially take place at the Van Cao T-junction by the side of West Lake at 11:30 pm on February 9. The audience can gather on Nguyen Dinh Thi and Trich Sai streets to enjoy the performance.

Shortly after that, high-altitude fireworks will be set off nearby from 0 am to 0:15 am on February 10, the first day of the Year of the Dragon.

People can watch the light show early at its final rehearsal at 9 pm on February 7.

The event is set to feature the biggest number of drones for such a performance in Southeast Asia, to be accompanied by exclusively composed music and screens for live broadcasting installed around West Lake, promising an unprecedentedly spectacular show for locals and visitors on the threshold of the Year of the Dragon, according to organizers.

Hanoi's Department of Transportation has just announced a plan to organize traffic for the festival, as vehicles will be banned from some streets, or some sections including Van Cao, Thuy Khue, Nguyen Dinh Thi, Trich Sai, VOV said.

On Nguyen Dinh Thi Street, cars are prohibited from the intersection of Lane 128 Thuy Khue-Nguyen Dinh Thi to the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Thi-Van Cao-Trich Sai; motorcycles are prohibited from the intersection of Lane 152 Thuy Khue-Nguyen Dinh Thi to the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Thi-Van Cao-Trich Sai.

On Trich Sai Street, all vehicles are prohibited from circulating on Trich Sai Street from the intersection of lane 45 Vong Thi-Trich Sai to the intersection of Trich Sai-Van Cao and the section from Cong Do to the intersection of Trich Sai-Van Cao; motorcycles are prohibited from circulating on Trich Sai Street from Cong Do to the intersection of Trich Sai-Van Cao.

During this time, cars can go in the direction of Trich Sai-Lane 45 Vong Thi-Vong Thi-Lac Long Quan; motorcycles can go in the direction of Trich Sai-the alley next to Thu Cuc Hospital-Thuy Khue./.
