The partnership draws upon the UK's advanced expertise, as a nation renowned for its remarkable achievements in public transportation and sustainable urban development. By adopting Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, Hanoi aims to significantly enhance its planning, monitoring, and project management capabilities.
This approach will help mitigate risks, reduce costs, and improve construction quality. Furthermore, the implementation of the TOD model will be methodically advanced to ensure connectivity between public transportation and urban areas, effectively meeting residents' needs.
The MoU serves as a foundation for expanding cooperation in the future, not only in urban railway projects but also across other sectors related to urban planning, sustainable urban development, and public transportation systems.
Nguyen Cao Minh, Head of the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway (HMR) Management Board, stated that Hanoi has developed a comprehensive master plan for investing in the city’s urban railway system. Through this cooperation, the UK will support Hanoi in researching public transportation development, advancing the urban railway system aligned with TOD principles, and integrating BIM technology into urban railway projects.
Speaking at the workshop, British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew emphasized the UK’s leadership in pioneering urban development solutions, including TOD models that optimize public transportation networks and reduce congestion.
“The UK is delighted to support the development and implementation of TOD, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing Hanoi’s public transportation infrastructure and reducing the city’s carbon footprint. This collaboration with Hanoi and MRB exemplifies the shared vision of our two countries for sustainable development,” stated the Ambassador.
