Speaking at the ceremony, Kang Seok-Hee, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, affirmed that during the past two decades, both provinces have made important progress in cultural and educational exchanges, and in promoting cooperation in economic development, social affairs, environmental protection, and community well-being.
A particularly noteworthy highlight of this cooperation includes programs promoting the implementation of the New Rural Development model based on the Saemaul Undong, educational partnerships between schools, training for primary school teachers, non-governmental aid, and foreign direct investment (FDI) projects from RoK's enterprises. These initiatives have become vivid symbols of the strong and enduring friendship between the two provinces and, more broadly, between the two countries.
The Vice Governor expressed his belief that the cooperation between Thai Nguyen and Gyeongsangbuk-do deepens the friendly and collaborative ties between the two localities and contributes positively to creating momentum to further advance the Vietnam-RoK partnership in a deeper, more substantive, and more effective manner.
On the solid foundation of the strong Vietnam-RoK relations, Thai Nguyen Province and Gyeongsangbuk-do first signed a friendship cooperation agreement in 2005.
In 2019, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.
To date, three localities in Thai Nguyen have established cooperative agreements with partners in Gyeongsangbuk-do, namely: Dinh Hoa District People's Committee with Cheongdo District (in 2014); Song Cong City People's Committee with Mungyeong City (in 2018); and Pho Yen City People's Committee with Chilgok District (in 2023).
These agreements reflect mutual trust and lay a crucial foundation for comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between the localities of the two provinces.

It can be affirmed that the friendship between Thai Nguyen and Gyeongsangbuk-do has been nurtured through trust, goodwill, and practical actions, an enduring partnership that will continue to flourish and contribute to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and RoK, for the aim of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
