United Nations in Vietnam and VUFO Discuss to Improve Cooperation Efficiency

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga congratulated Pauline Tamesis on her appointment as the UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam and expressed her belief that she would make many new contributions to the cooperation between UN and VUFO. Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga introduced basic information about VUFO and its role and tasks in building and strengthening the friendship between the people of Vietnam and the world, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, the United Nations plays an important role in supporting Vietnam not falling into the "middle-income trap", protecting the achievements of poverty reduction, and ensuring that people equitably enjoy the fruits of the country's development.
Pauline Tamesis said Vietnam is an active and dynamic member of the United Nations. She highly appreciated the cooperation and participation of the Vietnamese government and people in the organization's activities. As the world is facing new changes, the UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam hopes to find innovative, more effective, and practical approaches to implement cooperation between Vietnam and the United Nations.

Both sides discussed options to improve the effectiveness of coordination between the United Nations and VUFO, including improving people's understanding of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organizing activities in localities in gender equality, enhancing the role of women, and protecting the environment.
