Vietnam Airlines operated 9,200 flights during peak season of Tet 2016
(VNF) - The Vietnam national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has operated 9,200 safe flights, carrying about 1.2 million passengers during the peak season of the traditional lunar new year 2016 (from January 26th to February 18th).
Of which, around 1,000 flights were added to meet the increased demand from people to reunite with their relatives over the holiday.
It operated 482 flights in the peak day February 14th (7th of the first lunar calendar month) alone. The on-time performance ratio reached an average of 89%, a six point increase from the same period last year.
The busiest air routes were Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh city-Da Nang.
The carrier mobilized all sources for the best performance, helping to minimize peak-hour traffic congestion in Tan Son Nhat Airport (before Tet holidays) and Hanoi, Da Nang airports (after Tet holidays).
It also actively informed passengers in case of adjustments to flight schedules./.
