Prof. Tran Thanh Van, head of Meet Vietnam and Prof. Le Kim Ngoc, chairwoman of the Association for Protection of Vietnamese Children (Aide à l'Enfance du Vietnam - AEVN) made great contributions to the province's people-to-people diplomacy in recent years, especially the friendship between Vietnam-France, and Binh Dinh and France particularly. Trustworthy and strategic political and diplomatic cooperation

Opening the meeting, Chairman of Binh Dinh Union of Friendship Organizations Mai Thanh Thang said that in the past 50 years, despite all historical upheavals the friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and France has become more solid, going into depth, with comprehensive, rich and effective cooperation in all fields.

"It is the joint effort of both countries to build a reliable political relationship, dynamic and effective economic cooperation, extensive and comprehensive scientific and technical cooperation, and rich and diverse cultural exchanges," Thang said.

After the Paris Peace Accords, France and Vietnam decided to raise the bilateral diplomatic relations to Ambassador level in Paris and Hanoi on April 12, 1973.

With the great victory in the spring of 1975 of the Vietnamese people, the relationship between Vietnam and France began to enter a new period. By 2013, the two countries had become strategic partners.

Currently, regarding economics, in Europe, France is the leading ODA donor to Vietnam. Vietnam ranks second among countries receiving ODA from France in Asia. France is also Vietnam's fifth largest European trading partner.

In the field of education and training, the relationship between the two countries is constantly developing, with more than 10,000 Vietnamese students studying in France.

In addition, healthcare, the traditional field of cooperation between the two countries, is increasingly focused, with nearly 3,000 Vietnamese doctors practicing in hospitals in France.

Along with the good relationship between Vietnam and France, the cooperation between Binh Dinh and France is also developing positively.

Recently, Binh Dinh received many aid projects from France in the fields of health, education, science and social security.

Especially, the project of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon City, together with the Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation (ExploraSciene Quy Nhon) coming into operation, attracted a lot of attention from people in the province, national and international tourists.

ExploraSciene Quy Nhon received great support, scientific advice, training and professional guidance from French experts.

The support of French experts helped the center effectively carry out its mission of disseminating science, bringing science closer to the public. This is considered a bright spot and a symbol of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and France in the field of science.

Imprints of French culture in Binh Dinh

According to researcher Nguyen Thanh Quang, French cultural imprints in Binh Dinh are quite diverse and rich.

In addition to the ancient architectural works, there are also some modern French-imprinted architectures in Binh Dinh, typically ICISE and the Provincial Convention Center.

These are two works designed by French architects, which contributed to changing Quy Nhon City.

"This is an existing value that is considered a bridge, a link that makes the friendship and cooperation between Binh Dinh and France grow stronger," Quang said.

According to Dr. Le Thanh Hai, head of the Library of Quy Nhon University, the mark of French architecture, the training and promotion of French culture at the university is its library.

The building is designed in two main styles, French classical architecture combined with Vietnamese traditional houses.

This is a common feature that creates the identity of the buildings that changed and adapted to the local climate, through learning from local construction experiences. This shows that the work has an interference between the architecture of the Western Catholic church and Binh Dinh.

“The cooperation between Vietnam and France is most clearly demonstrated through the activities of the Meet Vietnam. Many French experts help to complete the project of ICISE, and the Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation (ExploraSciene Quy Nhon).

This is a concrete and symbolic example of the relationship between Vietnam and France in science and education.

Hopefully, in the coming time, the province and the people will join hands to promote the development of ICISE and the ExploraSciene Quy Nhon, in order to serve science and the community."
