During the seminar, university leaders presented their educational departments and the ongoing collaborative fields in education between the two nations' universities, particularly in engineering and nursing. Vietnamese and Japanese university leaders exchanged passionate views on concrete strategies to enhance human resource collaboration in the upcoming era between Vietnam and Japan.

At the seminar, Minister Bui Thanh Son stated: "Cooperation in training human resources, particularly in high-quality sectors, was established early and represents one of the three pivotal elements in the new generation of ODA cooperation between the two nations."

The Minister disclosed that Japan is one of the leading contributors to Vietnam's education and training sector. Notably, Vietnam was the first country to officially introduce Japanese language education in secondary schools in 2003 and in primary schools in 2019. Currently, more than 43,000 Vietnamese students are studying in Japan, which marks a substantial investment in the socio-economic development of both countries and strengthens the ties of understanding and empathy between their peoples.

The Minister recommended that universities in Hokkaido enhance collaborative efforts to expand scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese students in Japan, particularly in areas such as economics, energy, biotechnology, medicine, and nursing. Additionally, he advocated for the promotion of high-quality human resource cooperation, connecting Japan's "Hokkaido Valley" initiative with Vietnam's skilled workforce through university partnerships. He also proposed policies to encourage the training of Vietnamese talent in semiconductor fields to work in Hokkaido, which would benefit the semiconductor and high-tech industries of both Hokkaido and Vietnam.

Minister Bui Thanh Son hopes that the two sides will promote training cooperation programs between educational institutions of the two countries; support Japanese language teaching at Ha Long University and universities in Vietnam; Strengthen exchanges, connections, and research with the network of Vietnamese intellectuals and scientists living in Japan to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of both sides in improving the quality of human resources, scientific research as well as research on Vietnamese studies, and teaching Vietnamese at universities.
