Korea and Vietnam have an open cultural exchange. The development and technology of Korea combined with the values of Vietnam will create a great influence, not only in the Asian region, said Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee in Seoul, on the two countries' 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Minister Hwang Hee said that recently, he had a meeting with Vietnam's Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.

The two sides discussed a number of issues related to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and also signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation.

Hwang Hee said Korea and Vietnam were two countries that loved sports.

Therefore, at this anniversary, the two countries have thought about sports exchanges such as women's football and golf.

The two countries agreed to hold the festival in the other country as a cultural event for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Accordingly, South Korea is expected to hold the Korean lantern festival in Vietnam while Vietnam is expected to hold the Vietnamese culture and tourism week in Korea.

Hwang Hee said he hoped the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries would be an opportunity for the two countries to better understand each other's cultural history.

Thereby, it creates an environment where they can explore new fields such as sports, music or opera in the future.

Regarding the potential for bilateral cooperation, Hwang Hee said that when watching Vietnamese football, he great patriotism in the community, and the solidarity of Vietnamese people.

This is very similar for Koreans. When visiting Vietnam, he was well aware of these characteristics, and said tha because of that, large Korean corporations had invested in Vietnam.

According to Minister Hwang Hee, Vietnam's policies are very open and up-to-date, combined with the traditions of the Vietnamese people, creating a unique feature of Vietnam.

He said that both countries had great potential and enthusiasm, and the prospects for bilateral cooperation are great.

Cultural exchange plays an important role, contributing to creating the foundation and driving force for sustainable development.

The Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that Vietnam and Korea had similar cultural backgrounds. Korean people are familiar with Vietnamese culture, and Vietnamese people also know a lot about Korean culture.

Among 32 Korean cultural centers opened in 27 countries, the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam (established in November 2006) is the first cultural center in Southeast Asia.

It acts as a cultural messenger between the two countries. Korea will also make efforts to introduce Vietnamese culture in Korea.

Hallyu (or Korean Wave) has played an important part in enhancing Korea's national image and status in the world. Minister Hwang Hee attributed this to the Korean Government's strategy of supporting and developing culture.

The Korean Government focuses on supporting areas that the private sector cannot, such as technology and the legal system.

The Government invests in the development of advanced technologies, pioneers opening foreign markets, protects copyright, and creates a fair market environment.

Korea is also trying to attract foreign tourists with virtual travel experiences. It also has a variety of policies to support content for dramas and movies.

In the digital age, Korea has made good use of its advantages to create digital content.
