Vietnam announces regulation for citizens to join overseas beauty and model contests

Vietnam's Government recently published a decree including regulations on requirements that a citizen must meet in order to be allowed to join overseas beauty and model competitions.

According to VGP, those who wish to join beauty and model contests oversea must meet these 3 conditions:

(1) Owning invitation letters of organizations or individuals organizing the contest.

(2) Not being subjected to administrative handling measures; having no criminal records or are not being charged under the provisions of the criminal procedure law.

(3) Not being suspended from art performance activities under any decision of a competent state agency.

Besides, Vietnamese individual who wants to go abroad to compete for beauties and modeling must request the culture-related agencies of the People's Committee in the province where that individual resides to issue a written confirmation, stating clearly that the agency allows the individual to take part in the contest.

In case the individual's participating in the contest has not been certified by a competent state agency, in accordance with the procedures specified in this decree, that individual is not allowed to use the title won at that beauty or model contest while performing arts activities in Vietnam.

The Government's decree also provides for prohibited acts in performing arts, such as performances that against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; distorting history, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; insulting Vietnam's leaders and national heroes; undermining national unity; offending others beliefs, religions; races; infringing the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

The decree comes to effect from February 1, 2021.
