Vietnam approved as energy charter observer
Vietnam will become an observer of conferences of the International Energy Charter by adopting this statement, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related agencies, to complete all the necessary diplomatic procedures and consider proposing Vietnam as an official member of the charter.
The International Energy Charter, initiated by the European Union and based on the European Energy Charter, was ratified at a ministerial meeting in The Hague, the Netherlands, in May 2015.
It states basic principles and contents on international energy cooperation with a view to developing sustainable energy and increasing energy security, which is in conformity with Vietnam’s policies and laws.
The participation in the International Energy Charter is expected to offer opportunities for Vietnam to cooperate with partners, promote dialogues and share experience in energy./.
