Vietnam - Argentina Relations Further Enhanced through People-to-people Diplomacy

Dong Huy Cuong, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, received the Argentine Justicialist Party (PJ) delegation, in Hanoi, on Nov. 12. Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations received the Argentine Justicialist Party (PJ) delegation.

Emilio José Ribera expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Vietnam, praising the warmth and friendliness of the country and its people. He appreciated Vietnam's unwavering spirit and development process. He expressed a keen interest in strengthening multifaceted cooperation, particularly in culture, sports, and people-to-people exchanges.

Ribera noted that Argentina was one of the first three Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, on October 25, 1973 (after Cuba and Chile). Over the past 50 years, the bilateral relationship has steadily grown. He expressed confidence that continued high-level visits and exchanges would further strengthen the bond between the two nations. He also affirmed his commitment to facilitating connections between the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and Argentine partners.

Dong Huy Cuong highlighted the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations’ role in fostering friendship between Vietnam and international partners. He acknowledged the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Argentina. In particular, in the 1960s, the Argentine people held numerous movements to support Vietnam and call for an end to the war. Vietnam constantly appreciates Argentine people's affection for Vietnam during such difficult period.

The Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV) is a valuable partner of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in Argentina. The Institute has actively promoted exchanges and understanding between the two peoples. The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations looks to expand cooperation with Argentine people's organizations, research institutions, universities, and businesses to further strengthen people-to-people connections between the two sides.

Both sides agreed to continue promoting the role of cultural and sports exchanges and people-to-people cooperation in contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam-Argentina relations.
