Vietnam Company Joins Hands with Cambodia to Boost Socio-Economic Development
Attending the event were Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Seiha, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, Chairman of the Military Industry-Telecommunications Group (Viettel) Tao Duc Thang, along with representatives of ministries of the two countries.

Viettel Chairman Tao Duc Thang said that the group’s investments and the transferral of state-of-the-art telecommunications technologies to Cambodia have helped to generate social benefits in the country over the past 15 years.
As a whole, Metfone and Viettel have acted as pioneers leading Cambodia’s digital transformation in recent years, he said, highlighting that Metfone has developed advanced technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to provide Cambodia with digital platforms, solutions, and services, thus contributing to the nation’s prosperity and sustainability.

Metfone has completed its mission of bringing telecommunications and information technology to 96% of the country's population and building a widespread and sustainable telecommunications infrastructure. That infrastructure is the foundation for mobile Internet, Big Data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things, which are important foundations for the 4.0 industrial revolution.
According to Tao Duc Thang, Metfone brought fiber optic infrastructure to 100% of provinces and cities, helping Cambodia have good 4G coverage in the region. The company has currently signed cooperation agreements with most ministries on digital transformation, including projects with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. Metfone's education ecosystem has covered more than 300 schools nationwide, with over 450,000 students benefiting from the digital learning environment.
Meanwhile, Metfone General Director Cao Manh Duc said that Metfone, which has won the confidence of Cambodians over the past years, has served as a bridge in promoting friendship and solidarity between the two countries and peoples. Metfone will accompany the Cambodian government and enterprises to develop the country in the time ahead, he added.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Tea Seiha hailed the company’s operation in the past 15 years, saying he hopes that Metfone will continue supporting the Cambodian Government’s Pentagon Strategy-Phase 1 on the development of a digital economy and society. Metfone’s successes and unceasing development are a symbol of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, the official said.
On behalf of Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha warmly congratulated the achievements of 2,800 Metfone officers and employees in recent times.
Metfone has developed its products and services, from telecommunications to high-speed Internet, or fixed broadband services. The company has also become a widespread provider of modern telecommunications and information technology services to all Cambodians, including rural, mountainous areas and remote islands.
Governor General Tea Seiha affirmed: “The business has completed the goal of building telecommunications services, bringing national pride, and contributing to enhancing Cambodia's position in the world."
According to data, by 2023, Metfone has paid more than 1 billion USD to the Royal Government of Cambodia's budget, among the top 5 businesses with the largest budget contributions in this country. Along with that, the unit also contributed more than 120 million USD to social activities in the area.
