Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group – a Bridge between Two Peoples

The meeting saw the attendance of Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, who is also President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association; and President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga.
The Cuban delegation was led by Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén.
This was the second meeting between Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group, following the first in late May 2022.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed outcomes of the Vietnam-Cuba relationship, especially people-to-people exchanges, based on special solidarity and friendship between the two nations.
In his remarks, Ha said the recent visit to Cuba by Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly achieved significant results, with the exchange of many cooperation documents in different areas.
He stressed that it is necessary to enhance close, regular cooperation between the Cuban Embassy and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group.
One of the examples of practical cooperation between the two countries was the successful delivery of 5,000 tonnes of rice as a gift from the Vietnamese Party, State and people to Cuba under the decision of NA Chairman Hue last April, the official continued.
For his part, Ambassador Orlando Hernandez Guillen affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is a special relationship between the Parties, Governments and peoples of the two countries.
The Cuban side is working hard to prepare for visits to Vietnam by Cuban delegations in the time ahead, he said./.
The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group of the 15th legislature was established on November 8, 2021, comprising 11 members who come from ministries, agencies and localities which have set up cooperation with Cuba. |
