Stefan Natke, a member of the Presidium of the Communist Party of Germany (CPG) and Secretary of the CPG’s Berlin Branch has shared that at the time of Vietnam's resistance war against the invading US imperialists, he was only 14 years old. However, he oriented himself to left-wing politics, participated in anti-war protests and supported Vietnam, VNA reported.

At the meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh on September 16, Natke said that he still remembers President Ho Chi Minh’s works which he calls an unforgettable mark for his generation.

The German communist affirmed that the global challenges that Vietnam and Germany are facing today are similar. However, the ways Vietnam and Germany respond to these challenges will be different because the two countries have different policy orientations.

For his part, Minh thanked Natke for his sharing about the current activities of the CPG that Vietnam can consider learning from.

The ambassador informed the German side that Vietnam is taking steps to prepare for Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, which will outline a new development strategy for the country. In that context, the CPG's sharing of ideas and theory is very valuable.

On this occasion, Minh thanked German friends for standing side by side with Vietnamese people in the most difficult times.

The diplomat held that without the strong support and anti-war movements around the world, especially in Germany at that time, the Vietnamese people's war against the US invaders could have lasted much longer.

Minh hoped that the two countries and the two communist parties will maintain their tradition of friendship and cooperation and that they will together build a peaceful and stable world, for the development and prosperity of all countries in the world.

Last week, the 9th dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany was held in Berlin. Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theory Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Nguyen Xuan Thang led a CPV delegation to the event from September 10-11.
