Vietnam's Northern Region Races to Recover from Storm Yagi's Devastation
	Vietnamese Nationwide Unite for Northern Flood Victims

In solidarity with the hardships and losses that the people in the north are facing, all staff of PeaceTrees Vietnam (PTVN), a non-governmental organization (NGO) of the US that engages in detecting and defusing bombs, mines, and explosives, have come together to donate to support the recovery efforts after the natural disaster.

On September 12, Pham Hoang Ha, country director, representing the PTVN staff in Quang Tri province, handed over a donation of 30 million VND (USD 1.222) to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFFC) of Quang Tri province.

PTVN always stands by the Vietnamese people, not only in overcoming the legacies of war but also in times of hardship caused by natural disasters, Ha shared, adding this support reflects the heartfelt sentiments of all PTVN staff toward the affected communities.

On the same day in Quang Binh province, representatives of PTVN Quang Binh province handed over a donation of VND 15 million (USD 611) to the VFFC of Quang Binh province to assist the people affected by Typhoon No. 3. This contribution aims to support the families impacted, helping them stabilize their lives and recover from the aftermath of the storm.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami, chairman of the World University Service (WUS) Germany, presented a water filter to Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang on September 12 as the Vietnamese official was leaving for Vietnam after a working visit, VNA reported.

The gift, a Portable Aqua Unit for Live Saving (PAUL), will be transported free of charge to Vietnam by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on September 13, accompanying Thang and his delegation returning from the 9th dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Each PAUL device unit can filter about 1,200 litres of water daily, meeting the needs of at least 400 people based on an average daily requirement of 3 litres per person.

The WUS, with financial support from several German states and individual donations from students, parents and companies, has so far supplied a total of 392 PAUL water filtration units to Vietnam, benefiting nearly 1.6 million residents every day.

Earlier, on September 12-13, the non-governmental organization Good Neighbours International (GNI) Vietnam, coordinated with the People's Committee of Son Duong district (Tuyen Quang province), the People's Committees of communes and the Fatherland Front of communes to present relief goods to 480 households in three communes including Van Phu, Dong Loi, Chi Thiet. Each gift includes one box of 500ml filtered water, one box of instant noodles, one box of milk, cakes, instant sausages, digestive medicine, medicated oil and topical medications. The total value of the donated goods is equivalent to VND 230 million (USD 9.370).

The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management said, it will provide Vietnam with 2,002 family kits, 1,008 house repair kits, 1,015 kitchen sets, and 3,031 personal hygiene kits. The aid is scheduled to arrive at Noi Bai Airport between September 13 and 14.

Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), aided emergency supplies to Vietnam, which includes 40 portable water filters and 200 multi-purpose plastic sheets, slated for delivery by September 16 to 17.

Other donors, such as UN Women, the Swiss Embassy, the French Embassy, and Save the Children, are collaborating with Vietnamese authorities to finalize plans for emergency support.
