Vietnam, India to Strengthen Relations Between Political Parties

In a meeting at the headquarters of the Communist Party of India (New Delhi, India) on June 17, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai and General Secretary of the Communist Party of India D. Raja discussed the directions to strengthen relations with the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of India.

At the meeting, D. Raja reviewed the memories of this party as well as his personal attachment to Vietnam and the Communist Party of Vietnam in the national liberation struggle throughout history. India retains many imprints of Vietnam, he said, including the road named after President Ho Chi Minh , the statue of Ho Chi Minh in the capital New Delhi and the city of Kolkata.

According to the General Secretary, the Communist Party of India is preparing the strategic plans to strengthen the party's foundations organizations and prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the party's founding in 2025.

He emphasized that the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of Vietnam along with the two peoples are always close friends. In the future, he will continue to foster delegation exchange activities, to contribute to the good relationship between the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In response, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai thanked General Secretary D.Raja for his good feelings and conveyed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's greetings to comrade D. Raja.

Hai also conveyed a congratulatory letter from Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission to the leaders of the Communist Party of India on the results of the recent Indian House of Representatives election.

The Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam always cherishes the traditional relationship between the two parties. He will continue to coordinate with the Communist Party of India to promote strong development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation, development of the region and of the world.

On the same day, in a meeting with Head of Department of Foreign Affairs Vijay Chauthaiwale from the Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai congratulated the results that the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have achieved at the recent Indian House of Representatives election, and that NDA won its third consecutive term. Ha affirmed that Vietnam wants to strengthen cooperation with the BJP, adding that the relationship between parties is an important political foundation to further develop relations of the two countries.

Based on the cooperation results over the past time, the two sides agreed to plan to strengthen relations between the Indian People's Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam in the coming time. One of the proposals is to increase delegation exchange activities at all levels, especially high levels to share experience in governance.
