Book on Party Leader Nguyen Phu Trong Published in RoK
The Republic of Korea has launched a book titled "Vietnam's Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong" by author Cho Chul-hyeon, VOV reported.
This is the first book exclusively about Party leader Trong published in a foreign country.
The book closely follows the major milestones in General Secretary Trong's career, providing detailed information about his youth and university years, which have remained relatively unknown until now. It also features numerous articles he wrote while working as a journalist for the Communist Review, an official publication of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Author Cho Chul-hyeon said that with the long-standing relationship between the two countries, Koreans have a special interest in Vietnam.
Personally, since the 2000s, he has joined an association established by young Korean writers to exchange with Vietnam to learn about Vietnamese culture and literature.
In addition to exchange activities, author Cho Chul-hyeon has also visited Vietnam many times.
At the age of 40-50, he shared with the VNA reporter that he had collected a lot of information about Vietnamese culture and literature. During this time, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the RoK twice, in 2008 as the Chairman of the National Assembly and returned to the RoK in 2014 as the General Secretary.
The author said that not only did he learn about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, he was also interested in high-ranking leaders who have led Vietnam to develop successfully as it has today after implementing declare innovation policy.
However, he was particularly drawn to Trong because the General Secretary is a leader with a background in literature, which is a rare trait among global leaders.
According to author Cho, since 2014 he had been interested in finding documents to write a book about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, but it was not until 2022 that he focused on collecting documents, putting aside all work and only focused on writing for about a year and a half.
The author asked Vietnam Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung to help in collecting documents, including articles and speeches of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at special events.
He translated all statements and speeches of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for careful reading and study.
He also learned about the General Secretary through international press sources talking about his visits abroad.
After having the raw documents, he began working with Vietnamese research experts to verify the documents. Along with that, he found more documents from the Communist Review.
In particular, he read the university graduation thesis of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The author planned to introduce the book on the occasion of the General Secretary's 80th birthday on April 14, 2024.
He also planned to translate it into Vietnamese so that the book could be released to the public in Vietnam at this meaningful time.
Cho said he hopes that the book will help the younger generations of both countries gain a deeper understanding of the Party chief, especially his early life.
Approximately 6,000 copies of the book have been sold since its release nearly a month ago.
As the foreign author writing the first book about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, author Cho Chul-hyeon promises to continue to research, learn, supplement, and update to complete the book.
According to the author, the book has value in promoting exchanges between Vietnam and Korea. He said that after the Korean version was published in the RoK, a Korean businessman investing in Vietnam ordered 1,200 copies to give as gifts to Vietnamese students studying Korean.
Some Korean businesses also offered to wait for the book to be published in Vietnamese to give to employees of businesses in Vietnam and their partner units.
