Vietnam Joins 2023 World Village Festival

Finland Vietnam Friendship Association “FVFA” attended this year's World Village Festival (Helsinki, Finland) with a small stand displaying Vietnam specialties such as coffee, tea, and silk sleeping bags, which gained the interest of Finnish and international friends.

Many guests at the Festival showed interest in "Made in Vietnam" products.

The theme of the festival was the Boundaries of Our Planet, which aims at sustainable development. The free festival was held in many places in Helsinki and featured more than 40 program items from concerts to talks and discussions, documentaries, and the exhibitors’ Market of Possibilities. Many activities were also held online. According to the organizers, the festival attracted a total audience of 21,500 people.

The roots of the World Village Festival are in the 1980s when the Vaasa Association for Developing Countries came up with a new idea for presenting civil society activities to the public. That idea begat the Market of Possibilities, which is still organized every year around Finland. In Helsinki, the Market of Possibilities grew into World Village Festival, which was first organized in 1995. The festival and the Market of Possibilities were organized in alternating years until 2005 when the market became a part of the festival, which in turn became annual.
