Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia Children Meet for Cultural Exchange in Ho Chi Minh City

The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMYU) held a cultural exchange among children from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City in the weekend, VNA reported.
The event was part of activities held by young people of the three countries to celebrate the “Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022,” the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos, 45 years of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, the "Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Year 2022" and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations.

Addressing the exchange, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Pham Duy Trang said youth organizations of the three countries have worked together to hold many exchanges for young people and children, one of which is the annual Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia children festival, aiming to give children understanding about the traditionally good relations among the three countries.

This year's festival is intended to create opportunities for children of the three countries to enhance exchanges and mutual understanding, and help educate them about the special traditional friendship among the three countries, thus promoting the role of young generations in preserving and further strengthening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and Standing Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, welcomed the efforts of youth organizations in the three countries and pledged that Vietnamese Party and State leaders will create the best possible conditions for exchange and cooperation among young people and children of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
The festival for children from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia began on August 10 in HCM City.
Attending the opening ceremony was Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Ngo Van Cuong, Deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education Tran Thanh Lam, Vice Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) of HCMC Tran Kim Yen, Vice Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc, representatives of the general consulates of Laos and Cambodia in HCMC, along with more than 200 children and commanders of the young pioneer organizations.

The five-day event has drawn the participation of 185 children and 34 officials from the three countries.
This is the fifth time the festival has been held. The event is organized every two years since 2010. Last year, it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the event, delegates visited historical relics and museums as well as attended activities at destinations in HCM City.
Visitors to the event were treated to special dances and music performances by Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian children, featuring the message of solidarity, peace, and friendship among the three countries. Source: Vietnam Student Association |
