Vietnam Leaves Mark at Francophone Cultural Festival 2024
A Vietnamese delegation took part in a francophone cultural festival held by the Maison de la Francophonie association in France’s Bussy-Saint-Georges on March 31, impressing attendants with a large number of performances, VNA reported.
Activities by the delegation from 8 French-speaking countries, which accounted for the majority of the event’s duration, included dances, martial arts, and singing performances.

The festival is an initiative of the association, with the first event organized in 2023. This year, in addition to the five Asian countries of Laos, Cambodia, China, India, and Vietnam, there was also participation from African delegations such as Morocco, Tunisia, and Togo.
Speaking at the event, the head of the association, Clément HONG, expressed the hope that through this event, the cultural and linguistic diversity among French-speaking countries can be promoted to the international community.
According to Mayor Yann Dubosc, today there are nearly 300 million people in the world who speak French or at least understand French. This number symbolizes a strong and growing Francophone Community. He hopes the event will bring more good things, not only to the Francophone community but to people around the world.
Many Vietnamese performances were enthusiastically supported by the audience, giving the event an extremely bustling and intimate atmosphere in the warm weather of spring in France. Highlights of the event are the Lotus Dance performance of the Tam Duyen Group; the martial arts performance of the Vovinam Viet Vo Dao sect; Suzanne Minh Khue's singing performance of Vietnamese songs in French; or dancing by Nina Group, has left a deep impression on the audience, on Vietnamese people far away from their homeland.

In Singapore, on March 30, Banh mi, bun cha (rice vermicelli with grilled pork and fresh herbs), and nem ran (fried spring roll) were among the Vietnamese delicacies introduced at a Francophonie cuisine festival.
The event was organized by the Francophonie Alliance in Singapore in collaboration with the embassies of Vietnam, France, and several countries that are members of the Francophonie community, in the Southeast Asian country.
Vietnamese Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung said that Vietnam has been a responsible member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, with great contributions to the organization.
Engaging in this year's festival affirms Vietnam’s commitment to the Francophonie community, he said, adding it was also a good opportunity for Vietnam to bring its culinary culture closer to Francophonie member countries.
The Vietnamese booth at the event drew the attention of many foreign visitors who said they were impressed by the Vietnamese dishes.
