Vietnam medical supplies for COVID-19 fight presented to US, Japan, Russia

Vietnam has just handed over medical supplies to the US, Japan and Russia in support of the fight against the pandemic.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink in a ceremony on April 16 received a donation of 200,000 cloth masks from Vietnamese Government and people, and 50,000 masks from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the White House’s Office.

Vietnam also presented Japan worth USD 100,000 supplies, including masks and medical supplies and 50,000 masks from Vietnamese PM to the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office.

The other 50,000 face masks was presented to Russian Presidential Executive Office.

The separate hand-over ceremonies was held in Hanoi on April 16, with the participation of Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, alongside other representatives from both sides.

Speaking at the ceremonies to hand over the medical supplies to the US and Japan, Son said the aid reflected the solidarity of the Party, Government and people of Vietnam, to the people in the US and Japan this difficult time due to coronavirus.

He also expressed belief that the US and Japan Governments will soon control the pandemic.

Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink extended his thanks to the Vietnamese government for the donation, saying that these masks will be used where they are most needed in the United States to fight the COVID-19 epidemic.

He highlighted Vietnam’s efforts in response to the outbreak; said that the gift is a great spiritual encouragement and a message of solidarity and mutual support that Vietnam has for the US.

Ambassador Kritenbrink affirmed that in the spirit of the comprehensive partnership, the US will continue to work closely, maintain information sharing and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam including the possibility of cooperating to protect the health and safety of the people and control the disease.

In his remarks, Asazuma Shinichi, Envoy of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, expressed sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Government and people for the medical aid, saying that it is the valuable assistance in the current context, which demonstrated the fine tradition of mutual support and assistance between Vietnam and Japan.

He also highly appreciated Vietnam's recent response to the epidemic, considering that Vietnam as a model in coping with COVID-19.

The official affirmed that Japan will continue coordinating closely, sharing information and cooperating with Vietnam to combat the disease.

Presenting 50,000 face masks to the Russian Presidential Office on the same day, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said as a comprehensive strategic partner and traditional friend of Russia, Vietnam believed that under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin and the solidarity of Russian people as well as its world-leading medical capacity, the country will soon win in the fight against the pandemic.

He affirmed that Vietnam is willing to share experience and join hands with other countries to implement countermeasures against COVID-19.

Receiving the gift on behalf of the Russian Presidential Office, Ambassador to Vietnam K. Vnukov thanked PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc as well as leaders of the Government Office, ministries, and sectors of Vietnam for the support./.
