Russian Communist Party's leader sends greetings to 13th National Party Congress
The official website of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) on January 22 published the full letter of congratulations of its leader Gennady Ziuganov to the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), according to VNA.
On behalf of the KPRF Central Committee, Ziuganov sent his greetings to delegates, Party members and the entire Vietnamese people on the occasion of the 13th National Party Congress – an important political event in the lives of the Vietnamese Party and State.
He described the Congress as an important milestone on the way to reform, and to review previous tasks and outline new measures for the future.
According to him, the CPV was a pioneer of the Vietnamese people and an example of sacrifice in the struggle for freedom and future of socialism during years of fighting invading imperialists. Following the teachings of its founder President Ho Chi Minh, the CPV continued raising the fighting flag for socialism, maintaining its leadership role and socialism orientations, showing the world the fairness of Lenin's thought and supremacy of socialism ideology.
Ziuganov affirmed that the KPRF and CPV have shared decades-long fraternal friendship and fight for the common goals and for socialism, adding that the KPRF is willing to cooperate with the CPV.
He wished that the 13th National Congress of the CPV will be a success and issue important policies for happiness of the people and prosperity of the country.
Top leader receives credentials of new envoys from Spain, Iran, Philippines
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on Friday received credentials of newly appointed Ambassadors of Spain, Iran and the Philippines at the Presidential Palace in Ha Noi capital.
Following the presentation, the top Vietnamese leader hosted a reception for the ambassadors - Maria del Pilar Mendez Jimenez of Spain, Ali Akbar Nazari of Iran, and Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre of the Philippines.
On behalf of the State and people of Viet Nam, Trong warmly welcomed the ambassadors to Viet Nam.
He spoke highly of the fine relationships between Viet Nam and these countries, expressing his belief that the diplomats will successfully fulfill their duties so as to help further consolidate and strengthen their nations’ friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.

The leader took the occasion to brief the diplomats about the upcoming 13th National Party Congress – a significant political event of the Party, State and people of Viet Nam, calling on the ambassadors to play a role in promoting international support for and cooperation with Viet Nam to realize strategic targets of the new development period.
Trong affirmed the State and Government of Viet Nam will always create the best possible conditions for the ambassadors to perform their tasks, wishing Viet Nam’s friendship and cooperation with Spain, Iran, and the Philippines will witness new strides in the future, as reported by VGP.
Lao ambassador hails leadership role of Communist Party of Vietnam
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s sound and clear-sighted leadership has driven the national revolutionary cause as well as helped the Southeast Asian country gain an increasing position on the international area, said Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang.
In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency’s reporter, the Lao diplomat looked back on the historical significance of the CPV’s foundation on February 3, 1930 as well as its important role in leading the people in the cause of national protection and development.
Despite rapid and complicated developments in the global and regional situation in the past five years, Vietnam has attained remarkable achievements in various sectors thanks to the Party, State and people's high determination and efforts, the ambassador said.

The Lao diplomat also spoke highly of Vietnam’s meticulous preparations for the upcoming 13th National Party Congress, with a bundle of draft documents compiled based on opinion collection from researchers, officials, Party members and people from all walks of life.
He expressed his strong belief that the 13th National Party Congress will have rosy impacts on the country’s socio-economy in the coming time, adding Vietnam will realise its development goals of becoming an upper middle-income nation by 2030, and a high-income nation by 2045.
The ambassador said the 13th National Party Congress has received special attention from all Party members, officials, soldiers and people in the country, as well as international friends, VGP said.
VN goes 53 days without community infection case of COVID-19
Viet Nam has gone 53 days without a single community infection case of COVID-19, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has reported.
The nation’s patient tally remained at 1,548 as of 6:05 pm on Sunday, of whom 693 are local infections.
To date, as many as 1,411 patients have been cleared of the virus while 35 others have been reported dead.
The country is placing 19,142 people, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients or returned home from the pandemic-stricken areas, under medical surveillance and quarantine, according to VGP.

Thu Duc City administration officially become operational
On January 22, the Thu Duc City People’s Council (under Ho Chi Minh City) opened its first session to elect the titles of Chairmen, Vice Chairmen of the People’s Council and People’s Committee of Thu Duc City for the 2021-2025 tenure. At the same time, they officially ended the duties and powers of the apparatuses of the People’s Committees of Districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc.
Accordingly, Nguyen Phuoc Hung, Secretary of District 2 Party Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, was elected as Chairman of the People’s Council of Thu Duc City; while Hoang Tung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City, was elected as Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City.

Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le said that the establishment of Thu Duc City is a breakthrough development, opening new economic development opportunities for the eastern region of Ho Chi Minh City.
As soon as the leadership positions were arranged, the activities of Thu Duc City would start from January 22, with its own stamp for agencies, units and wards in the area, Nhan Dan Online reported.
