PM attends Green Growth and Global Goals 2030 Summit
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is set to attend the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit on May 31, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in.
Under the theme "Inclusive Green Recovery Towards Carbon Neutrality”, the event will be held in the form of videoconference.
P4G is a global platform pioneering green partnerships to deliver inclusive and sustainable growth.
The summit is considered important in the context of climate change response and green recovery becoming the top priority of countries. It comes after the first event held in October 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark, featuring the participation of nearly 60 leaders and senior officials from many countries globally.
This year's conference will focus on discussing international cooperation for the goal of green recovery after the Covid-19 crisis, cited VOV.
The Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 Summit is seen as a discussion mechanism in which member countries provide financial support, while organizations, businesses and citizens conduct projects. The goal is to assist developing countries that are still weak in dealing with greenhouse gas emissions.
The event is one of three major international environmental conferences this year. It comes between the Climate Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden in April and the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) slated to be held in November.
Prime Minister: Shift high-yield agriculture to high-tech, ecological agriculture
Concluding the meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the view that the development orientation of the agricultural sector is to focus on transforming the growth model. That is to change the mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economic development, from the supply chain of agricultural products to the value linkage of the commodity industry, from high-yield agriculture to high-tech, ecological agriculture

The announcement clearly states the views and orientations for the development of the agricultural sector: The three main pillars of the industry are agriculture, rural areas and farmers, in which the farmer must be the center, the subject, rural areas are the foundation, the base and agriculture is the driving force. Agricultural development activities must revolve around farmers in order to improve the material, spiritual and quality of life for farmers; harmoniously resolve the relationship between the government, society and the market. Agriculture-rural areas-farmers must continue to contribute to political and social stability, promote the development of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh talked about the initiation of digital transformation, moving from single-sector development to multi-sectoral integration, from single-value to multi-value integration, from supporting inputs to supporting both inputs and mediums, paying attention to developing export markets along with focusing on developing domestic market.
Covid-19: Vietnam records 111 more cases over 12 hours, half in Ho Chi Minh city
Fifty-one cases were recorded in Ho Chi Minh city closely linked to the outbreak at the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Go Vap district.
The city is speeding up contact tracing and extensive testing in an effort to early detect and quarantine positive cases. The city is applying social distancing in order to break up the largest ever chain of virus transmission.

Close to 200 cases have been confirmed since the first case was detected at the religious sect on May 26. Many other cases linked to the sect were also found in nearby localities such as bac Lieu, Binh Duong, Long An and Dak Lak.
The Ministry of Health also said in its Covid-19 update at June 1 that an additional 45 cases have been logged in Bac Giang, and 15 others in Bac Ninh, both are in the north and the largest Covid-19 hotspots in Vietnam, according to VOV.
Noi Bai International Airport temporarily halts receiving passengers
Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi will stop receiving foreign arrivals starting June 1 as the Covid-19 situation worsens in the city.
A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam revealed that the suspension of international flights arriving at Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport will last until June 7, while outbound flights departing from the airport are due to continue as normal.

Furthermore, the CAAV also moved to extend the suspension on receiving flights from abroad through Tan Son Nhat International Airport until the end of June 14.
Previously, experts, technical experts, foreign workers, and returning Vietnamese citizens had been permitted to enter the country through Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, and Van Don airports, before being put into quarantine at military facilities, hotels, and other businesses, reported by VOV.
The suspension on welcoming international flights in Hanoi comes following Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City temporarily suspending receiving passengers from May 27 to June 4 due to the increasingly complicated developments relating to the Covid-19 pandemic in the southern city.
Vietnam Airlines signs up for digital health passport
Vietnam Airlines became the first airline in Vietnam to sign an agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to test the digital health passport application (IATA Travel Pass) on May 31.
This can be considered as the key to opening the border, creating favorable conditions for passengers to travel between countries and meeting all entry requirements of authorities and governments at the destination. IATA will support and coordinate closely with Vietnam Airlines throughout the test run.

IATA and Vietnam Airlines will start testing in June. This process includes selected passengers to download the free IATA Travel Pass app to their mobile phones, create a digital profile with their photo and passport information, and fill in their flight details to gain access to update on epidemiological requirements at destination.
According to Le Hong Ha, general director of Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Airlines became the pioneer airline in Vietnam to test the IATA Travel Pass, creating a great step forward for its passengers and for the country's aviation industry.
Ha believes that Vietnam Airlines' ability to accelerate digital transformation along with IATA's extensive expertise in the aviation field will bring certain successes after this test. Ha believes that a “digital health passport" solution such as the IATA Travel Pass should be widely allowed and recognized by governments, helping to quickly restore regular international passenger transport.
“The most important goal is to restore passenger confidence when flying and ensure a safe and seamless travel experience for everyone,” General Director of Vietnam Airlines said.
