Viet Nam suspends int'l flights to Tan Son Nhat airport
The Ministry of Transport has just announced temporary suspension of international flights to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City from May 27 to June 4 (local time).
The southern metropolis is one of 30 cities and provinces being hit by the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence.
As of 7:05 pm on Thursday, the city recorded 44 community infection cases of COVID-19, most of them are members of the religious Revival Ekklesisa Mission in Go Vap District.
To prevent spread of the virus, the municipal People's Committee on Thursday noon decided that restaurants shall only be allowed to serve takeaways.
The city also decided that all restaurants inside hotels are allowed to serve the guests who stay at the hotels while all religious activities involving more than 10 people are banned, VGP said.
Vietnamese, Lao Party commissions forge cooperation
The information commissions of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on May 27 agreed to boost their collaboration in the time ahead.
The consensus was reached by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, and Khamphanh Pheuyavong, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training, during their phone talks.
Nghia emphasised the traditional friendship between the two commissions and reviewed their cooperation over the past time, with the exchange of delegations and the organisation of theoretical seminars.
Vietnam’s 13th National Party Congress has made headlines in Laos, Nghia said, adding that the two Parties have also successfully organised online conferences on outcomes of the National Party Congress of each country.
He said the CPV's Commission for Information and Education has seriously and effectively implemented the cooperation agreement for 2016-2021, and suggested the two sides consider signing another agreement for 2022-2026.
The agencies would organise virtual seminars given the COVID-19 spread, according to the official.
For his part, Khamphanh Pheuyavong said he believes that cooperation between the two commissions will grow stronger in the new period, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, according to VOV.

Vietnam calls for Middle East peace talk resumption
A Vietnamese diplomat to the United Nations has called on parties concerned in the Israel-Palestine conflict to return to the negotiating table to seek a durable solution in the region.
Addressing a UN Security Council debate on May 27, ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnam Mission to the UN, welcomed the declaration of a ceasefire between the parties and appreciated constructive efforts by regional countries, the UN, the Middle East Quartet and other international partners in this regard.
He stressed the need for parties concerned to fully observe the ceasefire and seek a long-term, sustainable solution to the conflict, in which all parties should exercise maximum restraint and take concrete steps to resolve the root causes of the conflict.
The ambassador called on Israel to stop all resettlement activities taking place in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the demolition of Palestinian homes and the expulsion of Palestinians.
He urged relevant parties to promote the resumption of negotiations, affirming that the only solution is a two-state solution, in which the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital peacefully coexists in parallel with the State of Israel, with safe, peaceful border recognized internationally.
He also called on the international community to increase support for humanitarian and reconstruction activities in Gaza.
The recent 11-day conflict has claimed hundreds of lives, mostly Palestinians, including 66 children, according to rapporteurs at the UNSC debate, as reported by VOV.
