President Phuc elated at growing Vietnam-Denmark ties

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has rejoiced to witness both nations build a close-knit and traditional friendship over many years, expressing great appreciation for the special affection that the Royal Family, Government, and people of Denmark gave to Vietnam in the national construction and development process.

President Phuc received Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth on November 1 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, during which President Phuc extended greetings from Vietnamese Party, State, and Government leaders to Queen Margrethe II.

He applauded the development achievements made Denmark, one of the leading countries in the world in terms of green growth and innovation.

In return, Crown Prince Frederik expressed his elation at once again visiting Vietnam, a country that holds a special place for the Danish Royal Family and the Crown Prince personally. He also hailed the impressive achievements recorded in terms of socio-economic development and international integration that Vietnam has recorded over recent years.

Expressing how impressed he is regarding the positive developments made in the comprehensive partnership between the two nations, Crown Prince Frederik said that he is being accompanying by major Danish businesses. Indeed, these firms remain keen to seek co-operation opportunities with their Vietnamese partners, especially in the fields of green growth, renewable energy, and efficient use of energy.

Denmark shares its vision for sustainable development with Vietnam moving forward, he added.

Impressed with Vietnamese efforts to fulfill its commitments to reduce emissions to zero by 2050, the Crown Prince believes that ties between the two sides have plenty of opportunities to develop the green growth sector and energy transition.

He expressed his desire to accelerate the speed of the establishment of a Green Strategic Partnership in order to raise the level of effective and practical co-operation between the two countries.

For his part, President Phuc assessed that the friendship and comprehensive co-operation that exists between the two nations are at a very positive stage of development, especially in the fields of politics - diplomacy, trade - investment, the environment, education – training, and people-to-people exchange.

Denmark represents an important partner of Vietnam in Europe and the Nordic region, with last year’s two-way trade turnover nearing US$600 million.

Denmark has risen to the third position in terms of countries investing in Vietnam this year, with the Lego Factory project worth US$1 billion, thereby bringing the total Danish investment capital up to US$1.78 billion.

There is still plenty of room for both nations to achieve stronger co-operation, President Phuc said, while hoping that the Danish Royal Family and Government would continue to support the deepening of the mutual comprehensive partnership in the near future, cited VOV.

President Phuc said that he hopes that the Nordic country will provide continued support for Vietnam in terms of experience, technology, and finance in carrying out its climate commitments. He also believed that Danish businesses will increase investment and successfully conduct business in Vietnam in the fields of Denmark's strengths and Vietnam's demand, thereby effectively taking advantage of the opportunities brought about by the EU-Vietnam Trade Agreement. Free (EVFTA).

The two sides agreed to expand co-operation in education and training, cultural exchanges, and tourism in order to foster the friendship and deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples as a means of contributing to tightening the sound relationship.

President Phuc respectfully asked Crown Prince Frederik to convey his invitation to visit Vietnam to Queen Margrethe II.

Petrol prices record third consecutive increase

Retail prices of oil and petrol recorded the third consecutive increase from 3pm on November 1, following the latest adjustment by the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and Finance, according to VNA.

Accordingly, the retail price of E5 RON92 rose by VND380 to VND21,870 (US$0.88) per liter, and that of RON95 bio-fuel climbed to VND22,750 per liter, up VND410.

Meanwhile, diesel 0.05S and kerosene are now sold at VND25,070 and VND23,780 per liter, up VND290 and VND120, respectively.

The price of Mazut increased by VND190 to VND13,890 per kilo.

The two ministries also decided to extract VND200-400 per liter, and VND500 per liter from petrol and mazut prices for the petrol price stabilization fund.

Party chief affirms support for Vietnam-China legislative ties

Leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State attach importance to the pragmatic and effective cooperation between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and China, especially in the context of both countries accelerating the building of law-governed socialist states, Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed at his meeting with the top legislator of China in Beijing on November 1.

At the meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China Li Zhanshu, Trong noted that the two legislatures play a very important role in the national construction and development of each country.

The two leaders lauded the fruitful cooperation between the two countries' law-making bodies over the past time, and proposed that the Vietnamese National Assembly and China's NPC continue to step up the exchange of experience in law building, carry forward their role in supervision and promotion of the two governments' implementation of common perceptions and agreements reached by high-ranking leaders of both countries.

They also suggested the two sides maintain and enhance the exchange of delegations at all levels, while coordinating at regional and international multilateral parliamentary forums, reported VNA.

For his part, Li highlighted the significance of the Vietnamese Party chief’s visit, expressing his firm belief that it will define the orientation for the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two Parties and countries to develop to a new level.

He emphasized that as both countries are led by the communist party, developing relations between the two Parties and countries is all the more important, and expressed his delight at positive developments of the ties between the two countries across all spheres, including the cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the NPC.

Li said the fast growing bilateral economic, trade and investment ties have brought pragmatic benefits to people of both countries, adding that exchanges and collaboration between their ministries, agencies and localities have become more fruitful.

He also noted that people-to-people exchanges, including young generations, has been stepped up with diverse activities, creating a good social foundation for the bilateral relationship to grow in a healthy and stable manner.

Vietnam’s second monkeypox case discharged from hospital

The second patient with monkeypox in Vietnam was discharged from hospital on October 31 after two weeks of treatment, according to Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The 38-year-old female patient’s fever has gone after treatment. PCR test results showed that she was negative to monkeypox virus, VNA reported.

The patient, who resides in the northern province of Tuyen Quang, traveled to Dubai from September 29 to October 18 and developed symptoms including fever, nausea and blisters since October 11. She has close contact with a friend who stayed together in the same accommodation in Dubai and had monkeypox symptoms including fever and blisters on the genitals.

After noticing the first patient has symptoms similar to hers, she immediately informed the HCM City Center for Disease Control for assistance. Right after her coming back to Vietnam, she was taken to the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases for quarantine and confirmed infected with monkeypox on October 20.

The first patient with monkeypox in Vietnam was discharged from the hospital on October 14 after three weeks of treatment.
