On August 22, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga received a high-ranking diplomat Tadeusz Iwinski, the chairman of the Poland - Vietnam Friendship Association.
At the meeting, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga welcomed the Poland - Vietnam Friendship Association as the first delegation of a European friendship association to Vietnam in 2022 after the Covid-19 pandemic was brought under control, stressing that the visit would promote the resumption of people-to-people diplomacy activities between Vietnam and Poland.
The President thanked the valuable support and support of the Polish people, especially the leaders and members of the Poland - Vietnam Friendship Association in campaigning for Covid-19 vaccines and preventive medical equipment for Vietnam.
Also at the meeting, President Nga informed the delegation about the history of formation, operation process and key foreign affairs contents of the VUFO, emphasizing the role of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the peoples of other countries, maintaining a peaceful environment, mobilizing external resources for national development, raising position and prestige of Vietnam.
Nga expressed her wish the two friendship associations have substantive activities in foreign information work to enhance understanding between the two peoples; acting as a bridge connecting and cooperating for organizations and people of the two sides; mobilize and create conditions for Vietnamese people in Poland to participate in activities of the two associations, to attract the attention of youth to people's activities.

Speaking at the meeting, Iwinski appreciated the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Poland, adding that the two Associations have great potential for cooperation and expressed his wish that the two associations will increase information about the life and culture of the two peoples together.

At the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two associations. Accordingly, the two associations will actively perform the function of a bridge between the Vietnamese and Polish partners on the basis of the Agreements signed between the Governments of the two countries, contributing to further strengthening the bilateral relationship, cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education and training, science and technology, sports and tourism; promote information and communication activities, friendly exchanges, introduce images of the country, people, socio-economic development achievements of each country to strengthen solidarity and mutual understanding.
Vietnam is a strategic partner of Poland in Southeast Asia. Dozens of thousands of overseas Vietnamese are living in Poland and hundreds of Polish are in Vietnam. Vietnam is an important buyer of Poland’s agricultural products and food. Last year, Poland exported more than EUR 143 million worth of the products to Vietnam. Poland’s commodity shipments to Vietnam surged 21.5% while Vietnam’s imports from Poland rose by 26% year-on-year in the period from August 2020 to May 2021. Vietnam is the first non-European country to which Poland provides the Covid-19 vaccine and medical equipment.
