Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association Encourages More Space for Cultural Exchanges
Nguyen Van Hanh, representative of the leadership of Hanoi's Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association stressed that more Vietnamese-Russian people-to-people exchanges should be built, at the conference summarizing the people-to-people diplomatic work in the first 6 months of the year and deploying the direction and tasks of the 6 months of 2024, held by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO).
Delivering his speech at the conference on July 4 in Hanoi, Hanh reviewed some of the association's results in the first 6 months of 2024 such as launching a new chapter; organizing the program "From Hanoi to Moscow" at the University of Foreign Languages - Hanoi National University; and hosting the Russian Cultural Week 2024 at Hanoi University, to name a few.

The major highlight was the friendly meeting during the official visit to Vietnam at the end of June by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Representatives of leaders of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association in Hanoi and nearly 400 guests, including members who have a lot of attachment and affection for the country, people and culture of Russia, participated in the event. To Lam and President Putin met Vietnamese alumni in Russia, thereby contributing to spreading love for the country and Russian culture to the young generation.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the association also organized a program to visit Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Plant - a testament to Vietnam - Russia friendship, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by UNESCO as "City for Peace" (July 16, 1999 - July 16, 2024). The program has contributed to propagating and educating the two countries' young generations about bilateral friendship and solidarity.

According to Hanh, in the last months of 2024, the association will continue to carry out more activities that contribute to introducing the image of the country and people of Vietnam, the image of the Heroic Capital City for Peace to Russian friends as well as international friends.
The association plans to organize a Vietnamese-Russian children's painting contest at Long Bien Park; a culinary cultural exchange at Pushkin Institute; a Vietnam-Russia friendly sports exchanges with the Russian Embassy, to create more cultural space as well as exchange opportunities between the two countries' people.
At the same time, the association will focus on completing the key plan for the last 6 months set by HAUFO, focusing on 3 main goals including participating in building policy mechanisms in the field of foreign affairs and people-to-people diplomacy to realize present the Amended Capital Law and develop a Resolution on the capital's people-to-people foreign affairs until 2030 with a vision to 2045; holding productive peace, solidarity and friendship activities; strengthening information work for the capital's people-to-people diplomatic activities.
Hanh hopes that the activities will contribute to introducing and promoting the country and people of Vietnam and the Russia, the heroic capital, the capital of Culture - Civilization - Modernity, as well as the City for Peace to come to Russian friends as well as international friends.
